The New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-3 tie at home with the
Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday, February 7, 2002.
Tony Hrkac gave the Thrashers a 1-0 lead over the Devils at
5:07 of the first period.
Jason Arnott took a rebound and shot the puck into an empty
net after Milan Hnilicka stopped the first shot by Andrei Zyuzin.
Arnott's 17th goal of the season was assisted by Andrei Zyuzin and Brian
Rafalski. Rafalski's assist marked his 99th NHL assist.
Patrik Elias gave the Devils a 2-1 lead at 15:08 of the
first period by knocking the puck out of the air and past Hnilicka.
Petr Sykora and Scott Niedermayer got assists on Elias's 21st
goal of the season.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Thrashers
2-1. The Devils outshot the Thrashers 9-5 in the period.
Randy McKay scored at 16:45 of the second period on the
power-play. McKay's 5th goal of the season was assisted by Scott
Gomez and Sergei Brylin.
The second period ended with the Devils leading, 3-1.
The Devils outshot the Thrashers 9-2 in the period.
Jiri Slegr got a power-play goal at 5:00 of the third period
to cut the Devils lead to 3-2.
Ray Ferraro tied the game with just 2 seconds left in the
Regulation time ended with game tied, 3-3. The
Thrashers outshot the Devils 8-4 in the third.
The game ended with the game tied, 3-3. The Devils
outshot the Thrashers 31-19 in the game.
