January 30, 2002 Devils Beat Blackhawks 3-1
The New Jersey Devils won their second game in two nights
by defeating the Chicago Blackhawks at home by a score of 3-1 on
Wednesday, January 30, 2002.
Jim McKenzie got the Devils on the board with a nice shot
at 8:11 of the first period. McKenzie's 2nd goal of the season
was assisted by Sergei Nemchinov and Scott Stevens.
The Blackhawks tied the game with 1.1 seconds left in the
period. Phil Housley put the puck past Brodeur at 19:58.
The first period ended with the game tied, 1-1 The
Blackhawks outshot the Devils, 12-8 in the period.
Sergei Brylin gave the Devils a 2-1 lead at 2:20 of the
second period. Brylin's 9th goal of the season was assisted by
Scott Gomez and Bobby Holik. Bobby Holik's assist was his 300th
career assist.
Bobby Holik scored for the Devils at 7:14 of the second
period to give the Devils a 3-1 lead. Holik's 17th goal of the
season was assisted by Sergei Brylin and Scott Gomez.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Blackhawks
3-1. The Devils outshot the Blackhawks 7-6 in the period.
There was no scoring in the third period, the Devils won
the game, 3-1 over the Blackhawks. The Devils outshot the
Blackhawks 14-10 in the period.
