The New Jersey Devils defeated the Panthers in Florida 3-1
on Wednesday, January 23, 2002.
Valeri Bure beat Martin Brodeur on the power-play at
14:59 of the first period to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 13-4 in the period, though
the Panthers lead 1-0 on the scoreboard.
Sergei Brylin tied the game at 14:12 of the second period,
on the power-play. Brylin's 8th goal of the season was assisted by
Scott Niedermayer and Scott Gomez.
The second period ended with the game tied, 1-1. The
Devils outshot the Panthers 13-6 in the period.
Patrik Elias beat Peter Luongo at 1:07 of the third period,
on the power-play to give the Devils their first lead of the game.
Elias's 19th goal of the season (his 300th NHL point) was assisted by Petr
Sykora and Brian Rafalski.
Valeri Kamensky scored hist first goal as a Devil at 11:30
of the third period to give the Devils a 3-1 lead. Bobby Holik and
Sergei Brylin got assists on Kamensky's 4th goal of the season.
The game ended with the Devils winning the game, 3-1.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 37-22 in the game.
