The New Jersey Devils were defeated at home, 3-2 by the
Los Angeles Kings on Monday, January 7, 2002.
John Madden scored his 6th goal of the season at 7:22 of
the first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. The goal was
assisted by Andrei Zyuzin and Jay Pandolfo.

of the third period to tie the game, 2-2. Scott Niedermayer and
John Madden got assists on the goal.
Ian Laperriere got his second goal of the game at 17:55 of
the third period to give the Kings a 3-2 lead.
The game ended with the Kings winning by a score of 3-2.
The Devils outshot the Kings 8-7 in the third period, and 27-22
in the game.
