Canucks Defeat Devils, 4-2
    The New Jersey Devils lost 4-2 to the Canucks in Vancouver on Saturday, December 29, 2001.
    Mattias Ohlund beat Martin Brodeur at 8:04 of the first period to give the Canucks an early 1-0 lead.
    The first period ended with Vancouver leading, 1-0.   The Devils outshot the Canucks 8-6 in the period.
    Jan Hlavac scored an unassisted goal at 2:12 of the second period to increase Vancouver's lead to 2-0.   Brent Sopel got his first goal of the season to give the Canucks a 3-0 lead.
    Martin Brodeur was pulled from the game at 6:15 of the second period to save his energy for tomorrow's game against the Oilers.
    A power-play goal at 11:20 of the second by Bobby Holik would give the Devils some life back.   Brian Rafalski and Scott Gomez got assists on Holik's 13th goal of the season.
    Pierre Dagenais got his third goal of the season at 13:27 to cut the Canucks lead to 3-2.   Scott Gomez got an assist on the goal.
    The second period ended with Vancouver leading 3-2.   New Jersey outshot Vancouver 14-12 in the period.
    Jan Hlavac got his second goal of the game to cap the Canucks scoring, giving them a 4-2 lead.
    The game ended with the Canucks winning, 4-2.   The Devils outshot Vancouver 34-28 in the game.
