December 15, 2001 Devils Shutout Sens, Brodeur gets 300th
The New Jersey Devils shutout the Senators in Ottawa on
Saturday, December 15, 2001.
Petr Sykora blasted the puck past Lalime at 6:52 of the
first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. The goal was the
Devils first shot of the game, and was unassisted.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the
Senators 1-0. The Senators outshot the Devils 14-10 in the period.
The second period saw no scoring, but the Senators outshot
the Devils 13-3 in the period.
Jason Arnott fired a pass from Petr Sykora past Lalime
at 7:02 of the third perio. Arnott's 12th goal of the season was
also assisted by Brian Rafalski.
The game ended with the Devils winning by a score of 2-0.
The Devils were outshot in the game, 39-18. The Devils had
outshot their opponents in their previous 14 games.
Martin Brodeur got the 52nd shutout of his career, getting
his 300th win tonight. Marty is the youngest and third fastest
goaltender to achieve the 300 win milestone.
Jim McKenzie, Pierre Dagenais, and Tommy Albelin were the
scratches for the Devils. Ken Daneyko is still out (on the Injured
Reserve list).
