Devils Flatten Red Wings 4-1
    The Devils defeated the Red Hot Detroit Red Wings in New Jersey on Saturday, December 1, 2001 by a score of 4-1.
    Pavel Datsyuk, a rookie for Detroit, scored at 9:07 of the first period to give the Red Wings an early 1-0 lead.
    Jason Arnott would tie the game 1-1 at 15:05 by scoring his ninth goal of the season.   Petr Sykora and Brian Rafalski got assists on the goal.   Rafalski's assist marked his 100th NHL point!
    The first period ended with the game tied, 1-1.   The Devils outshot the Red Wings 10-7 in the period.
    5:43 into the second period, Andreas Salomonsson scored his second goal of the season.   Jim McKenzie and Scott Gomez got assists on the goal.
    Jay Pandolfo knocked a rebound past Dominik Hasek at 9:51 to give the Devils a 3-1 lead.   Jason Arnott got the only assist on Jay's first goal of the season.
    Jason Arnott scored his second goal of the game at 12:44 on the power-play to increase the Devils lead to 3 goals.   Bobby Holik and Patrik Elias got assists on the goal.
    The second period ended with the Devils outshooting the Red Wings 13-6 and leading them on the scoreboard 4-1.
    There was no scoring in the more defensive third period - the game ended with the Devils winning 4-1.   New Jersey outshot Detroit 6-4 in the third and 29-17 in the game.
    Colin White and Sergei Nemchinov were scratches for the Devils.
