November 18, 2001 Avalanche Shutout Devils 2-0
The Colorado Avalanche shutout the New Jersey Devils 2-0
in East Rutherford on Sunday, November 18, 2001. The game was
the first meeting between the Devs and Avs since the Stanley Cup finals
last spring.
Rob Blake scored by putting a bullet past Brodeur at
18:31 to give the Avalanche a 1-0 lead.
The first period ended with the Devils trailing the
Colorado Avalanche by a score of 1-0. The Avs outshot the
Devils 8-6 in the period.
Rob Blake scored his second goal of the game at 5:04 of
the second period, just 4 seconds into an Avalanche power-play.
The goal gave the Avs a 2-0 lead. Both of Blakes goals were
rockets from the point.
The second period ended with the Avalanche leading the
Devils 2-0. The Devils outshot the Avalanche 15-11 in the
period.
There was no scoring in the third period - the Avalanche shutout
the Devils 2-0. The Devils outshot the Avalanche 12-2 in the
third period and 33-21 in the game.
Colorado was 1 for 3 on the power-play; New Jersey was
0 for 2 with the man advantage.
Tommy Albelin, Sergei Brylin, and Turner Stevenson were
scratches for the Devils. This is the 6th straight game that
Tommy Albelin has been a healthy scratch.
